wet on wet encre de chine

One of my trials in Encre de chine wet on wet, trying to create depth by applying differerent tones.

When Christina tagged me, I didn’t understand what 6 word epitaph meme was, so I looked it up, the first result was on a site called wired I found some nice examples :

Machine. Unexpectedly, I’d invented a time- Alan Moore

Failed SAT. Lost scholarship. Invented rocket.- William Shatner

But I wasn’t 100% sure of it’s meaning so I logged in to wikiquotes and found that Epitaphs are originally the inscriptions on headstones. I also found some very nice quotes :

Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Free at last. Free at last. Thank God Almighty I'm Free At Last."
Lyrics of an old Negro Spiritual he frequently quoted.

Dean Martin (by himself) w:1917-1995
"Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime"

Jim Morrison (unknown) - 1943-1971
"Truth to your own spirit" (originally in Greek)
His body is buried in Paris's famous Père LaChaise cemetery in the company of many other celebrities. Next to him in the "Poet's Corner" are buried many celebrated writers, including Balzac, Molière, and Oscar Wilde.

Isaac Newton( Alexander Pope)
"Nature and Nature's laws lay hid in night:God said, 'Let Newton be!' and all was light."

Frank Sinatra (by himself) - 1915-1998
"The best is yet to come."
Title of one of his trademark songs

So Thanx Christina for tagging me and by the way your memoire is great :
I could've missed the pain, but I'd have to miss the dance from Deirdre! For sure.
“This is a six word epitaph meme. The rules: Write your own six word memoir or epitaph. Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you want. Link to the person who tagged you in your post. Tag at least five more blogs”
inspired by life's ever-changing dance.
I'd have to tag.. Sol , Halcyon , Sinja , Doudy, Friday's Child

Now here is my epitaph :
“I find in life an imitation of Art more than the art being an imiatation of life!”

Another great quote by Paul cézanne
Everything in nature is formed upon the sphere, the cone and the cylinder. One must learn to paint these simple figures and then one can do all that he may wish.

So I am tagging ….Linda drb Martin Nancy Muddy red shoes Terry Carol Tony casey Sully Kim

Wonderful, Doudy! Your wet-in-wet is full of light and vigor, I love those washes. Thanks for all the interesting quotes, too. Your epitaph is very good. Turn a truism on its head and you may get a better truth (that's not a quote, just me rambling on off the top of my head). You always have such interesting posts. B.t.w. how did your exams go?

I agree with Mineke--your brushwork and the range of your values lends a great deal of interest to a simple, but nonetheless appealing!, subject: shapes! A la Cezanne, eh? It's fun and instructive to go back to black and white sometimes, away from the seduction of color! :-)
