Painting a house in watercolors

I am publishing my first colour trial for this house...I think I am going to change the colour of the tiles, and use a mixture of light red and Raw sienna to give it a more hot colour. As for the walls of the house maybe i'll go for a gray colour leaving the walls facing the light in white and the walls in the shade with a mixture of French Ultramarine and Burnt Umber.

OH I love it already. There is something so "serene" about the comp. This is going to be fun to watch it come along. sandy

Hi Doudy. You're a very good judge of your own work (no small feat, beleive me)--I like the idea of "warming" the roof tiles, and maybe adding another wash to the sides of the building that are in the shade to add volume and drama. The painting you've done surrounding the house (and "surrounding" is the right word: it's like the house is nestled in its space) is lovely, beautiful colors and beautifully painted.

Wow! :) I don't know how it will be like if you change the colours, but now it looks GREAT : ) I do really like your last paintings :)

(The marriage of Arnolfini amazed me the first time I saw it in the National Gallery. I did recall my teacher of Art saying so many things about this lovely mirror...

But when I was in from of it... And it looked so small I couldn't hide my disappointment! :P)

( I think translators are not very good... By the way....... )

There's a wonderful freshness to this - did you paint it in the morning?

Doudy,

Why don't you see what the shipping would cost you to order from

This has a lovely freshness to it. I agree that warming up the rooftiles and accentuating the shadows would be a good idea to try, but don't touch that tree! It's wonderful!

This is charming. You are right about the roof tiles. Definitely something warmer would look better. That red and raw sienna combination does sound good. I like the walls the color they are, but maybe the gray you describe is a better choice. Can't wait to see what you end up doing with this.

Hey Doudy,

I've been meaning to comment on this painting and kept forgetting.

It is wonderful. I love the trees surrounding the house. Maybe warming up the tiles would be good and the extra wash with the gray/ultramarine in the shadows sounds good. Can't wait to see it when you have finished it!
