I felt that I needed to just paint something without composition, so since I love to paint landscapes, I thought that painting trees will be a good starting point. These trees were painted very rapidly without giving the various layers of colours enough time to dry.... wet into wet painting enable the colours to merge.

Trees are very hard to paint (at least for me) and I think these look great; especially the top sketch where the shadows are more pronounced.
I love the looseness of these trees! good job! I have a hard time with trees. I tend to overdo them.
Oh this is so nicely done, wet into wet really created a nice effect.
By the way if you are interested in joining in on the fun with the ABC Art Project, then please go to http://brushstrokesfromtheheart.blogspot.com. Wanda is the one who had gotten this thing started up and going. I myself had just started on this fun work project.
Thanx Rosy for your comments, and thanx for visiting me so often...I really appreciate the invitation I'll go and check out the site.
Thanx Villager and Sara for your comments, Actually as Villager said the shadows in the first Sketch are more pronounced, I think I know why, it's because the first sketch was the first trial so I did it kind of naturally, spontenaously,in the second one I tried to concentrate but the result was not the same.
YEAP I agree I like the first one better.
They look a little like a Chinese brush painting... fragile and beautiful!
These trees are lovely! I just posted a bit on brushes at My Great Day. Not very detailed but you can get an idea. Happy painting!
I really like the wet on wet look, I agree with the comment about it being fragile and beautiful :)
Your tree studies are wonderful! Fragile and beautiful is right, I love the subtlety of colors. Sorry but I have to disagree, though, I like the second sketch best. It has such lovely blended colors and that bit of blue in the background is just perfect, very balanced and rich.
Thanx Michelle, its a very good compliment because I adore chinese brush and drawings they have such finesse, I am light years away :)
Suzanne, I saw your brush collection and your post about failure...you give me hope :)
Thank you very mush Jafabrit :)
Mineke Thanx, I really like your recent post..inspired a little by Arabian carpet merchants..if I am not mitaken :)
what can I say Doudy, some people were born to paint and some weren't this oak tree looks real!
Beautiful, Doudy. The blending of the colors is lovely--as is the contrast of the glowing colors and the dark branches--and I like how, with a few strokes, you were able to set your tree into a landscape in the study on the bottom.
I think it's a great idea to not paint a "picture" but just paint a thing--it gets you painting, for one, and it seems like a great way to try out new subjects.
I love trees painted in watercolor. These are beautiful and flow-ee. I have never been able to draw a good tree. That's one of the many things I want to practice on.
Great job Doudy. And I like that you put up the work in progress.
sandy
I love oak trees! And I agree with that Sara woman, the looseness is great.
I love these!!! The trees are very soft and relaxing...makes me want to sit under one and drink a chocolate milk shake. It's amazing to paint something that makes viewers become it! Keep em coming!
HI Doudy!
I like very much these trees dear friend, congratulations!!!!

A kiss
